Nobody Can Hire You If Nobody Knows You Exist

How to stop being the best-kept secret in your business and start becoming known for what you do.

By Nichole Banks | Founder, Phoenix Business Women

Let me say something that might sting a tiny bit:

You can be really, really good at what you do and still have a visibility problem.

You can have the beautiful website.

The business cards.

The Instagram account.

The offer you spent three weeks perfecting.

You can know you're good at what you do.

And still wonder...

Why aren't more people hiring me?

Sometimes the answer isn't that you need another certification, a prettier logo, a new website, or 10,000 Instagram followers.

Sometimes...

Not enough of the right people know you exist.

And that's a completely different problem.

Being Good Isn't Enough

I wish business worked like this:

Be amazing at what you do → people magically discover you → your calendar fills up → you celebrate with a very expensive glass of wine. 😂

Unfortunately, there's a pretty important step missing.

People have to know about you.

Think about how many incredible women you've met who quietly say something like:

"I'm just not very good at promoting myself."

Or...

"I don't want to be annoying."

Or my personal favorite...

"I posted about it."

Once.

Three Tuesdays ago.

Girl. 😂

Your dream client isn't sitting at home keeping a spreadsheet of everything you've ever posted.

She's busy.

She has approximately 847 things competing for her attention.

And that's why visibility matters.

Visibility Isn't Vanity

Somewhere along the way, we started confusing visibility with attention seeking.

They're not the same thing.

Visibility is simply making it easier for the right people to discover you, understand what you do, remember you, and eventually trust you.

That's business.

You don't have to become an influencer.

You don't have to dance on TikTok.

You don't have to share every detail of your life.

And you certainly don't need to post 14 times a day until you start questioning every decision you've ever made. 😂

You need to become recognizable.

When someone has the problem you solve, you want your name—or your business—to come to mind.

That's the goal.

Not famous.

Known.

So... How Do You Actually Become More Visible?

This is where many business owners immediately think:

POST MORE.

And yes, content can absolutely help.

But visibility is much bigger than social media.

1. Get Clear About What You Want to Be Known For

If I meet someone and ask what you do, can you tell me without giving me the 11-minute director's cut?

Your message needs to be clear.

Who do you help?

What do you help them do?

Why should they remember you?

Clarity makes you easier to refer.

And referrals are a pretty beautiful thing.

2. Stop Trying to Be Everywhere

Instagram.

Facebook.

LinkedIn.

TikTok.

Pinterest.

YouTube.

Email.

Podcasting.

Networking.

Blogging.

Excuse me while I go lie down. 😂

You don't need to dominate every platform.

You need a few places where the right people can consistently find you.

Choose your visibility channels intentionally.

Then show up there long enough for them to work.

3. Get Out From Behind the Screen

This one is especially important to me.

Online visibility is powerful.

But so is walking into a room and meeting another human being.

Have conversations.

Attend events.

Introduce yourself.

Ask other women about their businesses.

Follow up afterward.

Collaborate.

Refer people.

Create relationships before you need something from them.

One conversation can lead to a referral.

A referral can lead to a client.

A client can introduce you to another client.

Visibility creates opportunities you can't always predict.

That's one of the biggest reasons I created Phoenix Business Women.

I wanted women in business to have more opportunities to actually know one another—not just collect names in another Facebook group.

“You can be incredible at what you do and still be invisible. Talent matters. But people have to know you exist before they can choose you.”
— Nichole Banks

4. Talk About Your Business More Than Once

This deserves its own section because I know somebody needs to hear it.

You are not talking about your business too much.

You are seeing everything you post.

Your audience isn't.

Some people will discover you today.

Some next month.

Some will quietly follow you for six months before they ever contact you.

Repetition isn't automatically annoying.

Repetition builds recognition.

Talk about what you do.

Talk about who you help.

Talk about your results.

Talk about what you believe.

Talk about your offers.

Give people a chance to remember you.

5. Build a Visibility Habit

This may be the most important part.

Visibility isn't something you do when business gets slow.

It needs to become part of how you run your business.

That might look like:

Reaching out to five new people.

Following up with someone you met at an event.

Pitching yourself for a podcast.

Writing an article.

Sending your email newsletter.

Asking for a referral.

Attending a networking event.

Creating a collaboration.

Posting something useful.

Inviting someone to coffee.

None of these things feels earth-shattering on its own.

But imagine doing them intentionally for 90 days.

Now we're talking.

What Could 90 Days of Intentional Visibility Change?

This is the question I couldn't stop thinking about.

What would happen if a woman stopped randomly trying to market her business and spent 90 days intentionally becoming more visible?

Not chasing followers.

Not posting just because the algorithm supposedly wants another Reel.

Actually building visibility.

Getting clear on her message.

Showing up consistently.

Making new connections.

Creating collaborations.

Talking about her business confidently.

Following up.

Getting herself into rooms.

Creating opportunities instead of waiting for them.

That's exactly why I'm creating something new inside Phoenix Business Women.

The 90-Day Visibility Accelerator

Coming January 2027, the Phoenix Business Women 90-Day Visibility Accelerator is being created for women entrepreneurs who are tired of feeling like the best-kept secret in their industry.

This isn't about becoming internet famous.

It's about becoming known.

Over 90 days, we're going to get intentional about visibility, connection, consistency, and creating more opportunities for your business.

Because you shouldn't have to sit around wondering:

"Why isn't anybody finding me?"

We're going to do something about it.

Want First Access?

The 90-Day Visibility Accelerator begins January 2027, and the waitlist is officially open.

If you've been thinking:

I need more people to know about my business.

I need to stop hiding behind my logo.

I need to make more connections.

I need to get consistent.

I know I'm good at what I do—I just need more people to KNOW it.

I want you on this list.

Waitlist members will be the first to hear the details when enrollment opens, including dates, what's included, and how to grab a spot.

🔥 JOIN THE 90-DAY VISIBILITY ACCELERATOR WAITLIST

JOIN THE WAITLIST → Here!

And between now and January?

Start showing up.

Start talking about your business.

Start making connections.

Start letting people see what you're capable of.

Because here's the sentence I want you to remember:

Nobody can hire you if nobody knows you exist.

You don't need everyone to know your name.

You need the right people to know it.

And maybe 2027 is the year they finally do.
